Miranda Petruska, LSWAIC

Ts’imaye (greetings in Dinak’i)! My name is Miranda Petruska. I am Dichinanek’ Hwt’ana and an enrolled Tribal member of the Native Village of Nikolai in Alaska. Throughout my career, I have remained dedicated to Alaska Native/American Indian people and communities by advocating for healthcare, cultivating safe spaces for learning and healing, and decolonizing systems to empower the people.

Central to my approach is fostering a deep understanding of how power, privilege, and oppression affect our lives – and our mental health. I understand the importance of addressing intergenerational traumas with sensitivity and reverence for Indigenous wisdom and resilience. I honor the unique culture and histories faced by Indigenous and BIPOC individuals, acknowledging the intersectionality of race, culture, and identity. My therapeutic approach is grounded in cultivating a strong relationship because without this connection there can be no trust and ultimately no personal growth.

I hold a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Denver. And I have a bachelor’s degree in Rural Development with a focus in Community Health & Wellness from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I provide individual therapy and have attained my WA State Associate License (LSWAIC). In my personal time I enjoy gardening, practicing Reiki, creating art, and spending quality time with my family. I am grateful to live and now work on the traditional territory of the ʔéʔɬx̣ʷaʔ nəxʷsƛ̕áy̕əm̕ -the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. Ts’enanh (thank you in Dinak’i) and I look forward to working with you!
