Kristina Cain, LMHCA, ATR-P

Kristina Cain is an art therapist who works mainly with indigenous populations who have experienced trauma, anxiety and depression. She graduated with a master’s degree in art therapy in 2023. She grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and is an enrolled member of the Native Village of Utqiagvik.
Her approach to her work is relational, strengths-based and trauma-informed. Kristina believes that human beings are incredibly adaptable and the therapeutic relationship relies on safety, trust and creativity. Artwork is incorporated into sessions to help clients achieve their goals. This can be an easier entry point than talk therapy, especially for experiences that are difficult to put into words. Art-making is a powerful tool for people to express their emotions, increase self-awareness and build self-esteem.
Outside of work, she enjoys staying active by Olympic weightlifting, and staying creative by sewing.
